Is it legal to clear a nest?
Nesting birds are protected while the nest is in use. If there are eggs or chicks up there we will tell you straight and come back once they have flown. The proofing goes on after that, not before.
Will it damage the panels or affect the warranty?
The mesh clips onto the panel frames. Nothing is drilled through the panels or the roof covering, and nothing goes near the wiring.
Will it stop them for good?
Once the gap is closed they cannot get underneath. They may sit on the ridge for a while out of habit, which is what the spikes are for.
Can you clean the panels at the same time?
Yes, and it is worth doing while the access is already up there. See solar panel cleaning.
How long does it take?
Most domestic arrays are done in a day, including clearing what is under there.
What is the mesh like to look at?
Black galvanised mesh, fitted tight to the frame. From the ground you would struggle to pick it out.
