Moss holds water against the tile surface. In a frost that water expands and cracks the tile from within, which is how a cosmetic problem becomes a structural one. Loose moss then washes into the gutters and valleys and blocks them.

They used a cherry picker saving loads of hassle as no  scaffolding, traffic lights  permission and pavement  re route neeeded as property1is very close the highway. While he was on the roof he also spotted some erosion with our chimney stack and fixed it for us. He took before and after pictures so we could clearly see the work which had been done. Will jet washing damage my roof?

Yes, on concrete tiles it will. It strips the surface granules and shortens the life of the tile. We soft wash instead, at low pressure, with a biocide.

How long before the moss comes back?

With the biocide treatment, typically three to five years depending on how shaded and damp the roof is. Without it, often within a year.

Will you break tiles walking on the roof?

We work off scaffold or a tower rather than walking the roof wherever possible. If a tile is already cracked we will show you and replace it.

Can you clean the gutters at the same time?

Yes, and it is included. Everything that comes off the roof ends up in the gutters, so clearing them is part of the job, not an extra.

Do you do roof coating as well?

Yes. If the tiles are sound but porous and faded, a coating after the clean will restore the colour and seal them. We will tell you honestly whether yours is worth coating.

Do you need scaffolding, and is it included?

Anything beyond a small repair within safe ladder reach needs scaffold or a tower. Where it is needed it is included in the quoted price, not added later.
