They used a cherry picker saving loads of hassle as no  scaffolding, traffic lights  permission and pavement  re route neeeded as property1is very close the highway. While he was on the roof he also spotted some erosion with our chimney stack and fixed it for us. He took before and after pictures so we could clearly see the work which had been done. How long does a roof coating last?

Typically ten to fifteen years depending on the product, the exposure and how well the roof was prepared. Preparation is the part that decides it.

Does coating stop leaks?

It seals porous tiles and stops water soaking in. It will not fix a structural leak, a failed flashing or perished felt, and it is not sold as a leak repair.

Can I pick the colour?

Yes. Most people go for a charcoal, slate grey or a terracotta close to the original tile.

Is it breathable?

Yes. A non-breathable coating traps moisture in the tile and causes more problems than it solves, so we only use breathable systems.

Will it look painted?

Done properly, no. It should read as a clean, even roof rather than a shiny one.

Do you need scaffolding, and is it included?

Anything beyond a small repair within safe ladder reach needs scaffold or a tower. Where it is needed it is included in the quoted price, not added later.
